Children's Ministry

Children are our first priority at first church!

Sundays

Every Sunday morning, kids are invited to meet in 1 of 3 different classes for children from 6 weeks of age through elementary school during the 9:45 and 11 a.m. worship services.

The Nursery is located on the lower level in the church office area and is designated to care for your infant - 2 year old child.

The Preschool and the Elementary Classes are on the second floor of the church and are accessible by the elevator or the stairs next to the church office. Caring and committed teachers nurture the children in their faith.

The Jesus Connection to us is the most important thing—making the connection between the gospel story and Jesus, the reason for the story. You’ll find a Jesus connection in every lesson. We want children to find Jesus every week in their classes, so don’t miss this opportunity to learn about and love God and each other.

Weekdays

Are you looking for a top-rated daycare or preschool in the downtown area? First Church offers a weekday preschool and daycare through our Early Care Center (ECC) which provides a nurturing educational experience for children six weeks to Kindergarten with an average enrollment of 75. Because our program is so good, there is often a waiting list.

The Early Care Center is on the lower level of the Family Life Center. The entrance is on Mira Mar Court.

An Easter Egg-Stravaganza is held several weeks prior to Easter.  This is a fun family friendly event open to the community.  A free lunch is served, the Easter Story is told to the children, followed by face painting, crafts, a variety of active games and an Easter Egg Hunt.

On Pentecost (May or June) the children celebrate with a birthday party for the birth of the church.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is open to preschoolers (3, 4 and 5-year-olds) and elementary children (Kindergarten - 4th graders) of the community the third week of June.

The Sunday following VBS week all VBS participants & their families are invited to join us at the 11 a.m. service as the children sing one or two of their favorite VBS Songs.
