The Dick Hamilton Trio is comprised of: Dick Hamilton, trombone; Jim Martin, trumpet; and Tony Swain, saxophone/clarinet. These three jazz masters have been electrifying jazz lovers in the Sarasota / Bradenton for many years. Come be captivated by their innovative and classical treatments of the jazz repertoire!

Saxophonist Jim Wellen is a well-known and popular performer in the Sarasota area. He is best known for his smooth tone, melodic phrasing, and rich repertoire of songs from the American Songbook. Jim is a perennial favorite. We welcome him back to our Jazz at First Church series!

Saxophonist Natalie Barber is beloved by local jazz aficionados and we are overjoyed to welcome her back to our Jazz at First Church Series for the third time. She plays many styles of music, enhanced with cultural nuances she has picked up in her world travels and residencies. Prepare to be charmed as you listen to Ms. Barber’s virtuosic renderings of jazz standards and beloved classics!

Saxophonist/flutist/clarinetist Peter BarenBregge was music director and principle jazz soloist for the Washington DC-based Air Force band “Airmen of Note” for 20 years. He is a true virtuoso and has performed for audiences around the world. He is now retired and lives in the local area where he is in high demand, both as a performer and band leader. He returns to our series this year as an audience favorite.

Guest Artist: Steve Martinucci
Jazz Trio: Tommy Goodman, piano; Dominic Mancini, bass; Johnny Moore, drums

Steve Martinucci has been playing guitar since he was 12 years old.  He began studying Jazz Guitar in 1993, when he attended the Audio and Jazz Program at Five Towns College in New York on a full academic and performance scholarship. In 2000, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from William Paterson University with a bachelor’s degree in Jazz. He also graduated Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Steve has studied with many musicians including Joe Monk, Gene Bertoncini, Vic Juris, and Jack Wilkins. He has also performed with Jon Faddis, Harold Mabern, Steve LaSpina, Rufus Reid, James Moody, Dennis Mackrel, Bobby Sanabria, Chico Mendoza, Randy Weston, Dick Hyman, Todd Coolman, and many others.

Steve has been a crowd favorite for many years at the Jazz at First Church concert series and returns again this year for another swinging performance.

Vibraphonist Dave Morgan has been performing since the age of 13. His repertoire includes something for everyone:  Dixieland, Rock, Folk, Reggae, Jazz, and Classical. This concert is a treat for those who appreciate a truly fine jazz vibraphonist!
